About Our Organization & Founder
Rasheedah Sims is the Chief Executive Director of The Black Odyssey Community Homes and serves as a healthcare worker for The city of Los Angeles. She has provided free health services to her community at health fairs through the Los Angeles area. She has walked for “Breast Cancer Awareness” and also walked for the “ March of Dimes” for babies. Most recently Rasheedah served food to the community supporting “ Sister of Watts “ and continued serving as a front line health care worker during the 2020-21 Covid 19 pandemic in the city of Los Angeles. She organizes & fight for those impacted by the cycle of poverty and systemic inequality. Her mission is building a community to advocate for young adults of the world suffering from the lack of financial guidance, instability and foundation.
Her focus is on a solution to network with organizations striving to build a healthy life cycle. In 2020, Rasheedah was motivated and pushed forward to start a non -profit to help solve the circumstance that the young adults in her family were facing; lack of education/motivation/support. Her young adult family members are forced to figure out their problems alone causing further negative impact on their lives and others. She felt as a proud Mother of three sons and Aunt to eleven nephews and nieces that it is her duty to help assist those in her family and in her community to be a beacon of light on their life journey. To show people “that you are not a product of your environment but your environment is a product of you” by being a positive influence.
